Cássio Vargas Barbosa (born November 25, 1983 in Porto Alegre ), called Cássio , is a Brazilian football player . The striker has been without a club since July 2016.
Career
Cássio came to Europe in 2005 and initially played for FC Maia in the second Portuguese football league, the Liga de Honra . In the middle of the season he moved to league rivals GD Chaves , where he was able to score twelve goals in 17 games. As a result, the first division club Nacional Funchal became aware of him, who signed him in the summer of 2006.
In Funchal, Cássio was not used as expected and was not used regularly. After two years he left the club and moved to União Leiria in the Liga de Honra. He found his goal danger again and contributed 17 goals to promotion to the SuperLiga, where he managed to stay in the league in the following season .
In summer 2010 he moved to Rapid Bucharest . In the first year he was able to score seven goals for Rapid. In January 2012 he was loaned to the Portuguese first division club SC Beira-Mar for half a year . After his return, he moved to al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2012 . Half a year later he moved to Gwangju FC in South Korea before joining the Cypriot first division club AEL Limassol . At the beginning of 2014 he returned to Brazil and joined AD São Caetano . In the summer of 2015 he moved again to Portugal, where he joined the second division team Desportivo Aves . There he came only four times and moved on to league competitor Leixões SC in early 2016 . There he secured relegation with his team . He has been without a club since July 2016.
