Rúben Filipe Marques Amorim (born January 27, 1985 in Lisbon ) is a former Portuguese football player .

Amorim could be used in various positions. He could play in central, defensive or offensive midfield, as well as act as a right-back.

Career

Amorim started his professional career with the Lisbon first division club Belenenses . Over the years he developed more and more into a regular player and played 96 games and scored 4 goals until he switched to local rivals SL Benfica in 2008.

National team

In 2007 Amorim took part in the U-21 European Championship in the Netherlands with the Portuguese U-21 selection .

For the 2010 World Cup , Amorim was in the extended squad of Portugal. After Nani injured his shoulder on June 8, 2010, Amorim was nominated and took part in the World Cup with Portugal. He made his debut for the national team against Ivory Coast on June 15, 2010 .
