Takumi Nemoto ( Japanese 根本 匠 , Nemoto Takumi ; born March 7, 1951 in Kōriyama , Fukushima Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician ( LDP , Kishida faction ), member of the House of Representatives , the lower house of parliament , for the constituency of Fukushima 2 and former Minister of Reconstruction .

After graduating from the Tokyo University Faculty of Economics, Nemoto became a civil servant in the Ministry of Construction in 1974 . In 1991 he left the ministry and ran for the 1993 House of Representatives election in the then four-mandate constituency of Fukushima 1. With the second highest share of votes behind Tokunosuke Kaneko ( Renewal Party ) and before incumbent Teruhiko Mashiko (LDP) and the second-time Tatsuo Satō (LDP), Nemoto won a mandate. After the electoral reform, he has been confirmed five times in the new single-seat constituency Fukushima 2 since 1996 . Only in the LDP landslide defeat in 2009 he was defeated by the Democrat Kazumi Ōta and also missed re-election in the Tōhoku proportional representation block.

Nemoto was, among other things, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs ( Cabinet Obuchi and 1st reshuffle , 1998–1999), advisor to the Prime Minister and at the same time Vice Minister in the Cabinet Office ( Cabinet Koizumi I (1st reshuffle) , 2002–2003). From 2003 to 2004 he chaired the Committee on Economy and Industry in the House of Representatives. After his return to the House of Representatives in the 2012 election , Prime Minister Shinzō Abe appointed him to his second cabinet as Minister of Reconstruction . During the cabinet reshuffle in September 2014, he was replaced by Wataru Takeshita .
