Marco Benassi (born September 8, 1994 in Modena ) is an Italian football player who is under contract with Fiorentina .

Career

In the club

Marco Benassi started his career in his hometown with FC Modena before moving to Inter Milan in January 2011 . Modena retained part of the transfer rights to the young player. At Inter, Benassi was initially used in junior teams and won both the NextGen Series and the Campionato Primavera in 2012 .

With the senior team from Inter, Benassi took part in the preparation for the 2012/13 season. In October 2012, he extended his contract with the Milanese until 2017. On November 22, 2012, Benassi made his debut for the Inter first team in a Europa League match against Rubin Kazan . Against Pescara Calcio he ran on January 12, 2013 for the first time in Serie A , on January 15, 2013 he made his debut against FC Bologna in the Coppa Italia . Just six days later, Inter acquired the complete transfer rights to Benassi from Modena. In July 2013 Benassi extended his contract with the Milanese until June 30, 2017. At the same time, the midfielder was loaned out to AS Livorno to gain match practice.

For the 2013/14 season Benassi moved to Turin , which acquired part of his transfer rights from Inter.

In the summer of 2017, Benassi moved to Fiorentina .

In the national team

Benassi ran for the U-18 , U-19 and U-21 of Italy . From 2015 to 2017 he was the captain of the U-21s and led them to the semi-finals of the 2017 European Championships , where they lost to Spain .

Benassi was invited to courses for the senior national team in spring 2014 and spring 2016 and, together with Daniele Rugani and Davide Zappacosta, was one of the reserve players at the 2016 European Championship , but without being re-nominated. In October 2016, Benassi was nominated by Gian Piero Ventura for the injured Riccardo Montolivo , but remained without action.

In September 2018, Benassi was appointed by Roberto Mancini in the squad for the Nations League games against Poland and Portugal , but was again not used. It has not been taken into account since then.
