Erick Antonio Pulgar Farfán (born January 15, 1994 in Antofagasta ) is a Chilean football player . The midfielder has been under contract with the Italian first division club Fiorentina since August 2019 and has been the Chilean international since January 2015 .

Career

Pulgar began his career with his hometown club CD Antofagasta , for which he made his debut in 2011. On June 28, 2014 he moved to CD Universidad Católica , where he signed a three-year contract. For the 2015/16 season Pulgar was transferred to the Serie A club FC Bologna . He signed a four-year contract with Rossoblu and was given jersey number 5. On August 22, 2015, he made his debut for his new club in the 2-1 away defeat against Lazio Rome . Initially still in the starting line-up, Pulgar was pushed to the bench over the course of the season and therefore only made 13 appearances. In his second season 2016/17 he fought his way back to the starting line-up and scored his first goal for Bologna in the 1-1 draw against Chievo Verona on October 26, 2016. In the 2018/19 season he celebrated his breakthrough in the top Italian division. On May 25, 2019 (38th matchday), he played his 100th league game in Bologna's jersey in a 3-2 home win against SSC Napoli . In 28 league games he scored six goals and prepared two more.

On August 9, 2019, Pulgar moved to league rivals Fiorentina , where he signed a four-year contract. The Viola paid a transfer fee of 10 million euros for the services of the midfielder . He made his league debut on August 24, 2019 (1st matchday) in the home game against SSC Napoli. He started and although he scored one goal and set up another goal, he could not prevent the 3-4 defeat.

National team

Pulgar made his debut for the Chilean national team on January 29, 2015 in a friendly against the United States . At the Copa America 2019 , he scored his first goal for the national team in a 4-0 win over Japan .
