Giorgio Stivanello (born July 13, 1932 in Venice , † May 18, 2010 in Vicenza ) was an Italian football player .
Career
Giorgio Stivanello began his career as a classic winger in his hometown club, FBC Venice . In 1953 he moved to Calcio Padova in Serie B , with whom he 1954-55 under Nereo Rocco in the Serie A rising. The Venetian made his debut in Italy's top division on September 18, 1955 in a 2-1 home defeat against Lazio . Nevertheless, the Biancoscudati could confidently secure the league with eighth place in 1955/56 , to which Stivanello contributed six hits in 33 games.
For the season 1956/57 changed Giorgio Stivanello to Juventus , where he was employed on his favorite position and striker John Charles and Omar Sívori with edges supplied. Overall, Stivanello played for six years at Juve , in the first three seasons he was a regular, then a supplementary player. He played his best season here in 1956/57 when he scored eleven Serie A goals and was the best scorer of his team together with Antonio Montico . During his time in Turin , the winger won the Scudetto three times and the Coppa Italia twice .
In 1962 Giorgio Stivanello, now 30 years old, went back to Venice, where he ended his Serie A career in 1962/63 with seven appearances, two goals and relegation to Serie B. In the 1963/64 season he ran for Jesi Calcio in Serie D , then Stivanello ended his active career for good.
In total, Giorgio Stivanello completed 115 games in Italy's top division and scored 25 goals. His son Piero (* 1957) was also a professional footballer and played for Lanerossi Vicenza in Serie A in 1974/75 and was relegated to the second division with the team at the end of the season, where he finally made two appearances.
Giorgio Stivanello died on May 18, 2010 at the age of 77 in Vicenza , where he had lived since retiring and was buried on May 21.
