Martin Lejsal (born September 16, 1982 in Kyjov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech football player .

Career

Martin Lejsal played in his youth for FC Vracov and Baník Ratíškovice . In 1995 the goalkeeper moved to Svit Zlín . During the 1999/2000 season he came to his first appearances in the first team. Lejsal convinced and was the goalkeeper the following season.

In September 2001 Lejsal was obliged by the Italian first division club Reggina Calcio . Although Lejsal was only on the bench in Reggio , he played for the Czech U21 team. In early 2004 he was loaned to Slovan Liberec , for which he only played two games.

In the 2004/05 season he played on loan for the then second division club AC Venice and was involved in a corruption scandal at the end of the season. In the last game of the season, Genoa won 3-2 against AC Venice in 1893 , where the win was bought for 250,000 euros. Lejsal was accused of being involved in the corruption. He protested his innocence, but was banned for five months. Previously, Lejsal had agreed to move to AC Padua , for which he was not eligible to play for six months.

In January 2006, he dissolved his contract with Reggina Calcio, which was valid until 2008, and moved to 1. FC Brno , where he is the undisputed number one goal.

On November 15, 2006 he was appointed to the Czech national team for the first time , but in the 1-1 draw against Denmark he was only a substitute.

After three years in Brno, Lejsal moved to the Dutch honorary division SC Heerenveen in the summer of 2009 . After a year in the Netherlands, Lejsal returned to Brno in the summer of 2010, where the goalkeeper still had a contract until the end of the year. In early 2011, the Czech moved to the Russian first division club FK Rostow on a free transfer.
