Carlo Annovazzi (born May 24, 1925 in Milan ; † October 10, 1980 ibid) was an Italian soccer player who played for AC Milan , Atalanta Bergamo , Anconitana Ancona , SG Gallaratese and Città di Castello as well as for the Italian national soccer team during his active career .

Career

Carlo Annovazzi began his professional career in 1945 at AC Milan , for which he was active in Serie A for eight years . The midfielder always played for the top ranks with the Milanese and achieved a placement among the top four teams in all eight seasons. The greatest success he achieved in the 1950/51 season, when he was able to win the Italian championship with the team with one point ahead of city rivals Inter Milan . In 1953 he joined Atalanta Bergamo , with whom he successfully ensured relegation in the first few years. After the season 1957/58, the team rose as the penultimate finally from Serie B and Annovazzi left the club. For the seasons 1959/60 and 1960/61, the midfielder was still at SG Gallaratese or Città di Castello under contract, with whom he was still in the fourth division Serie D took.

National team

Annovazzi was appointed to the Italian selection for the first time in 1947 , for which he made his debut on December 14, 1947 in a 3-1 win over Czechoslovakia . The midfielder was called up by national coach Ferruccio Novo in the Italian squad for the 1950 World Cup in Brazil . He played his only tournament game when he came up against Sweden and was narrowly defeated with the Italians. The following win against Paraguay also did not bring the team to the next round, as the Swedes won the required point against Paraguay. Annovazzi completed his last international match against Belgium on February 24, 1952.
