Paolo De Ceglie (born September 17, 1986 in Aosta ) is an Italian football player . He is a technically and physically strong player who is used either in left midfield or on the left side of defense.

Career

In the club

Paolo De Ceglie began his career in the youth teams of Juventus Turin, which he went through to Primavera . With this highest youth team, he won the Torneo di Viareggio twice , the Campionato Primavera in the 2005/06 season and the Super Coppa Primavera in 2006 . De Ceglie scored a hat trick in this final, which they won 5-1 against Inter Milan .

He made his debut for the professional team of Juve on November 6, 2006 in the Serie B away game at SSC Napoli , which ended 1: 1. De Ceglie scored his first goal for the Bianconeri on November 25, 2006, just six minutes after coming on, in a 4-1 home game against US Lecce .

On June 20, 2007 Juve sold 50% of his transfer rights to AC Siena , where he was a regular on the left under coach Mario Beretta in the 2007/08 season and showed consistently good performances. For the 2008/09 season De Ceglie moved back to Juventus, where he was regularly used.

On January 18, 2014, De Ceglie was loaned to CFC Genoa until the end of the 2013/14 season. He played the 2014/15 season on loan at FC Parma . However, the loan was terminated prematurely.

In the summer of 2015, De Ceglie was loaned to the French first division club Olympique Marseille for a year .

After transfers to FC Crotone or AC Pisa were not carried out due to his refusal, his contract with Juventus was terminated in June 2017. After several months without a club, he was signed by the Swiss second division Servette FC Genève on January 12, 2018 .

In the national team

Paolo De Ceglie has played in the Italian youth national teams since the U-19 , in December 2006 he made his debut in the U-21 , for which he played 15 games until 2009. In 2008 De Ceglie took part with the Italian Olympic team in the Olympic soccer tournament in China and was there in three of four tournament games in the Italian starting line-up, including the 3-2 defeat in the quarter-finals against Belgium.
