Joma is a Spanish manufacturer of sporting goods with headquarters in Portillo ( Toledo ).
history
The company was founded in 1965 by Fructuoso López , who started production with only eight employees. In 1980, when the company presented itself for the first time at the ISPO trade fair in Munich , over 70 employees were already working for the plant. The opening of a branch in Niederaula in Hesse in 1990 was an expression of the constant expansion that has continued to this day . Another six branches can be found today in the USA , Panama , Mexico , Brazil , Italy and China . After opening the new headquarters in 2000, the company employed over 800 people.
The company initially concentrated entirely on the production of soccer shoes . Over the years, however, the product range has been continuously expanded. Today it includes sporting goods of all kinds, accessories and casual clothing. Joma is the global market leader for products that are used in indoor football (special shoes, etc.).
In 1988, Joma signed a Real Madrid star player, Rafael Martín Vázquez , and his club colleague Emilio Butragueño followed a year later . In 1992, the Spanish middle-distance runner Fermín Cacho won the Olympic gold medal in the 1,500-meter run in Joma shoes.
Joma supplies a growing number of sports clubs and national associations in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa in the disciplines of soccer, futsal , volleyball, basketball and athletics. In 2015 the company sponsored the national soccer teams of Bulgaria , Romania , Honduras , Cuba , Trinidad and Tobago , Kenya , Uzbekistan and Nicaragua . The company also has sponsorship agreements with individual tennis and padel tennis athletes . Joma is the supplier of the Bundesliga soccer teams Arminia Bielefeld and TSG Hoffenheim as well as the Bundesliga volleyball club TSV Herrsching .
