Andrea Cossu (born May 3, 1980 in Cagliari ) is a former Italian football player .

Career

society

Andrea Cossu began his professional career in the 1996/97 season with Olbia Calcio in 1905 in the fourth-highest Italian division. He made his debut on September 29, 1996 in the home game against AC Lumezzane for Olbia. In the summer of 1997 he was signed by the Serie B club Hellas Verona . The midfielder was only used in the following two seasons in the Primavera , with which he played for the Primavera championship . In order to collect match practice again in professional leagues, Cossu moved in January 1999 on loan to the then amateur club AC Lumezzane . With the Lombards he was able to fit in well in the team over the next 2½ years and returned to Verona in summer 2001. He could not prevail again at Verona and did not play a single league game. In January 2002 the next loan followed with the temporary engagement with the third division ASD Torres Calcio .

At the Sardinian club, the midfielder quickly made the leap into the regular formation and contributed to the team's success with one goal in twelve games. After the loan period expired in the summer of 2002, he returned to his parent club Hellas Verona. This time he managed to convince with constant performance right away and develop into a regular player. After he narrowly missed promotion to Serie A with Verona in the 2004/05 season , he then left the club and signed a contract with Cagliari Calcio in his hometown . At Cagliari he received 22 appearances in the top Italian division in the 2005/06 season and remained without a goal. The following two years he played again at the Venetian club Hellas Verona, but with the coming to the wayward season 2006/07 after a defeat in the playout -Partien against Spezia Calcio in Serie C1 was relegated. After a few games in the third-tier Serie C1, Cossu returned to Cagliari in summer 2008.

With the Sardinians, he made the leap into the regular formation in the second attempt and placed with the team in ninth place in Serie A in the 2008/09 season .

National team

After Cossu was considered for the U-16 and U-18 youth selection between 2000 and 2002, national coach Marcello Lippi offered him for the first time in the squad of the Italian national soccer team for the friendly game on March 3, 2010 against Cameroon. The midfielder was able to play the entire game in the 0-0 draw against Cameroon .
