Alessandro Diamanti (born May 2, 1983 in Prato ) is an Italian football player .
Career
In the club
Alessandro Diamanti started his professional career at AC Prato in 2001 . However, he did not play his first competitive game for this club until the following season in a Serie C1 game. Diamanti had already gained match practice in Serie D at AC Fucecchio. In January 2003 he was loaned for half a year to AC Florence , which was playing in Serie C2 at the time, but was unable to prevail. In the 2003/04 season he played again at AC Prato and hit 20 Serie C games six times.
In the summer of 2004, the striker was loaned to UC AlbinoLeffe . Diamanti played 26 Serie B games with this club in a year and a half . In January 2005 he returned to AC Prato, where he became a regular player and scored 15 goals in 36 games in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons. In summer 2007 Diamanti moved to AS Livorno . After a good 2008-09 season in Serie B with 16 goals in 36 games, he moved to West Ham United in 2009 . In August 2010, Diamanti signed a five-year contract with Brescia Calcio . After a season he left Brescia again and moved to Bologna FC , where he quickly established himself as a regular. After two and a half years, during which he also became team captain , he left Bologna to join Guangzhou Evergrande at the beginning of 2014 . After one season he was awarded to AC Florence . After further loans to FC Watford and Atalanta Bergamo , Diamanti moved to US Palermo in the summer of 2016 . His contract was terminated in the summer of 2017. He was without a club until February 2018, before Perugia Calcio signed him until the end of the season.
In July 2018 he was signed again by AS Livorno .
In the national team
On November 17, 2010 Diamanti made his debut against Romania in the Italian national team . On June 18, 2012, he played his second international match against Ireland at the European Football Championship 2012 when he came on for Antonio Cassano . Together with the Italian team he reached the European Championship final, in which they lost 4-0 to Spain . Also at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup Diamanti participated with Italy.
