Marcelo Alejandro Estigarribia Balmori (born September 21, 1987 in Fernando de la Mora ) is a Paraguayan football player . He is currently under contract with the Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado and is loaned to Atalanta Bergamo . In addition to Paraguayan, Estigarribia also has Italian citizenship . Estigarribia is a midfielder and, as a left footer, is usually used as a left winger. He is considered a strong dribbler and a good goal preparer.

Marcelo Estigarribia grew up with his three brothers in a very religious family in Fernando de la Mora, a few kilometers from the Paraguayan capital Asunción .
Career
In the club
Estigarribia began his career at Club Unión Pacífico in the city of Nueva Italia . In 2005 he joined Club Sport Colombia , where he made his professional debut at the age of 17.
In 2006, Estigarribia moved to the reigning Paraguayan champion Cerro Porteño , who initially loaned him to the Club Guaraní . After his return he made his debut in the Primera División de Paraguay on November 12, 2006 in a 5-1 win against Guaraní . Subsequently, the midfielder reached first place with the club in 2006 in the Torneo Clausura , in 2007 second place in Apertura and Clausura and third place in Apertura 2008. In August 2008, at the age of 20, Estigarribia was signed by the French first division club Le Mans FC . where he initially played in the B team and made his Ligue 1 debut on November 15, 2008 in a 1-0 win against Valenciennes FC .
On December 27, 2009, Le Mans awarded the Paraguayans to the Newell's Old Boys for six months . At the end of the 2009/10 season , the loan deal was extended by one year, the Newell's Old Boys also received a purchase option of $ 2.5 million , which they did not take advantage of for economic reasons. After the Copa América 2011 , a group of investors bought Estigarribias transfer rights for two million euros and placed it with Deportivo Maldonado in the Segunda División Profesional de Uruguay .
Juventus Turin
His former club Cerro Porteño reported Marcelo Estigarribia for the 2011 season, but he was on 28 August 2011 for 500,000 euros to Juventus in the Serie A awarded. The Italian record champions also secured a purchase option of five million euros.
On October 16, 2011 Marcelo Estigarribia made his Serie A debut under coach Antonio Conte in the 0-0 away game at AC Chievo Verona . The Paraguayan scored his first goal in Italy's top division on November 29, 2011 in a 3: 3 against SSC Napoli in the San Paolo stadium .
At the beginning, Estigarribia was only used as a substitute by Juve coach Antonio Conte , who played with three or even four tips . At the beginning of 2012, he recommended himself more and more to the regular formation with good performances.
Sampdoria Genoa
For the 2012/13 season , Estigarribia moved to league rivals Sampdoria Genoa .
From the beginning of the 2013/14 season, a position at AC Chievo Verona followed . He has been playing for Atalanta Bergamo since February 2014 at the latest . He has played for this club so far (as of February 8, 2016) 25 first division games and scored two goals.
In the national team
After he had already played for the Paraguayan U-20 national team in 2007, Marcelo Estigarribia celebrated his debut in the Paraguayan senior team on May 22, 2008 under Gerardo Martino in the 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast as part of the Kirin Cup . The midfielder scored his first international goal for Paraguay on March 31, 2010 in a 1-1 draw against South Africa .
At the Copa America 2011 , Estigarribia played all six games of his team, which only lost 3-0 in Uruguay in the final .
