Mostaganem ( Arabic مستغانم Mustaghanam , DMG Mustaġānam , tamazight ⵎⵓⵙⵜⵖⴰⵏⴻⵎ Mustɣanem ) is a city in northern Algeria with about 125,000 inhabitants.
geography
The port city, founded in the 11th century, is located on the Mediterranean coast of Algeria near Oran . The longest river in Algeria, the Cheliff , flows into the Mediterranean near the city. It is the capital of the province of the same name and has its own university, which cooperates with the Ruhr University Bochum .
