Christoph Baumgartner (born August 1, 1999 in Horn ) is an Austrian football player .
Career
society
Baumgartner began his career at SV Horn . For the 2012/13 season he moved to AKA St. Pölten , where he went through all age groups. For the 2017/18 season he moved to Germany for the U-19 team at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In August 2017 he was against TSV Schott Mainz for the first time in the squad of the second team of Hoffenheim, but was not used. In the same month he made his debut against 1. FC Heidenheim for Hoffenheim in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga . In the game that TSG won 3-0, he also scored his first goal. By the end of the season he had made 23 appearances for the U-19 team in the Bundesliga and scored seven goals. He ended the season with the club as champions of the season south / south-west and thus took part in the championship finals. There they were eliminated in the first round against FC Schalke 04 .
For the 2018/19 season Baumgartner moved into the squad of the second team from Hoffenheim. In July 2018 he finally made his debut in the Regionalliga when he was in the starting line-up against TSV Steinbach Haiger on the first day of that season and was replaced by Andreas Ludwig in the 72nd minute . In November 2018 he scored his first goal in the Regionalliga in a 4-0 win against TSV Eintracht Stadtallendorf .
In January 2019 he was promoted to the professional squad of Hoffenheim. In February 2019 he was against Hannover 96 in the professional matchday squad for the first time, but was not used. In the same month, he broke his hand and was injured for several weeks. In May 2019 he made his debut for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga when he came on as a substitute for Nadiem Amiri on matchday 33 against Werder Bremen in the half-time break .
In the following 2019/20 season , Baumgartner developed into an important part of the team and scored seven goals and six assists in 28 competitive appearances. Hoffenheim finished the season in sixth place in the table, which qualified for participation in the UEFA Europa League .
Baumgartner was voted TSG Player of the Season in August 2020.
National team
Baumgartner played for an Austrian national youth team for the first time in May 2014. In August 2015 he made his debut against Russia for the U-17 team . In 2016 he took part in the European Championship with the U-17 national team, in which they failed in the quarter-finals to Portugal . Baumgartner was used in all Austrian games during the tournament and scored two goals.
In September 2016 he made his first appearance for the U-18s against Belgium , for which he played six games until April 2017. In August 2017 he made his debut against Norway for the U-19 team .
In November 2017 he made his debut for the Austrian U-21 team against Serbia . He was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in August 2020 .

His brother Dominik (* 1996) is also a soccer player.
