Ermin Bičakčić (born January 24, 1990 in Zvornik , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian football player who also has German citizenship . The defender is under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .

Ermin Bičakčić was born in 1990 as the son of a teacher and the owner of a supermarket in Zvornik , Yugoslavia . At the age of two he and his family fled to Austria before the Bosnian War , from where he came to Neckarsulm in Baden-Württemberg a year later . In 1995 he started playing soccer in the youth of SpVgg Möckmühl and in January 2005 he moved to what was then FC Heilbronn (today: FC Union Heilbronn ). In July 2005 he was accepted into the youth team at VfB Stuttgart .
From the 2009/10 season he was a member of the VfB second team . Bičakčić made his professional debut on March 23, 2010 on the 25th matchday of the 2009/10 season for the VfB Reserve in the 3rd professional league in a 3-0 home win against SV Sandhausen . On October 27, 2010, he came in the second round of the DFB Cup for his first appearance in the first team of VfB when he came on against Chemnitzer FC in the second half for Georg Niedermeier . On December 1, 2010, he made his European debut in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League group game against BSC Young Boys Bern . He made his Bundesliga debut on December 19, 2010, when he was on the starting line-up on the last match day of the first half of the season in a 3: 5 against FC Bayern Munich . On July 29, 2011 Bičakčić scored his first competitive goal for the Bundesliga team in Stuttgart in the first round of the DFB Cup against SV Wehen Wiesbaden .
In the winter break of 2011/12 he signed a contract with Eintracht Braunschweig until June 30, 2013. At Eintracht, he played all 34 possible games from February to December 2012. In January 2013 he extended his contract term to summer 2015. At the end of the season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with Eintracht , where he made his debut on August 10, 2013 (1st matchday) in the 0-1 defeat at home against Werder Bremen .
After relegation with Eintracht Braunschweig, Bičakčić moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the 2014/15 season . His contract there runs until June 30, 2022.
Bičakčić made his Champions League debut in Hoffenheim . On October 23, 2018, he played in the game against Olympique Lyon.
National team
On May 16, 2008, Bičakčić received German citizenship . Six days later he made his debut for the German U18 national team against Turkey. On April 21, 2009 Bičakčić played for the first time for the U19 of Bosnia and Herzegovina in their encounter with Slovenia. In October 2009 he won the DFB national cup with the Württemberg selection as team captain . In June 2013 he received his Bosnian-Herzegovinian passport back, which means that he has had dual citizenship since then. In July 2013 Bičakčić was appointed to the Bosnian senior national team for the first time ; He had his first use on August 14, 2013 in a friendly against the USA . In his third international match he scored his first goal for the national team in the game against Slovakia .
