Florian Grillitsch (born August 7, 1995 in Neunkirchen ) is an Austrian football player . The central midfielder is under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and is an Austrian national player .

Grillitsch began his career in 2001 at SVSF Pottschach and went to the St. Pölten Football Academy in 2008 . In 2013 he moved to the Werder Bremen A youth team . There he came on September 21, 2013 in the 2: 3 defeat against VfR Neumünster for the first time for the second team in the Regionalliga Nord . For the 2014/15 season he moved up firmly in the squad of the second team and developed into a regular player. With nine goals, he contributed significantly to winning the championship. The Bremen team qualified for the promotion games to the 3rd division , for which Grillitsch was not eligible to play due to a red card suspension, which they won against the second team from Borussia Mönchengladbach .

Grillitsch has been in the first team's squad since the 2015/16 season . For the 2017/18 season , Grillitsch switched to league competitor TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . On September 19, 2018 he played in the 2-2 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk for the first time in the Champions League and took the Hoffenheim lead after six minutes. His contract in Hoffenheim runs until 2022.

National team

Grillitsch made his debut on August 30, 2011 in a 3-0 win against Slovenia in the Austrian U17 national team . With the U19 selection , he took part in the U19 European Championship in Hungary in July 2014 . Grillitsch scored two goals in three missions and failed with his team in the semifinals against eventual European champions Germany . On October 12, 2014, he played for the U21 national team for the first time in the friendly against the Democratic Republic of the Congo and scored the goal to make it 3-0 shortly after half-time. In the summer of 2015 , Grillitsch played with the U20 team at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand and reached the round of 16 with the team.

In March 2017, Grillitsch was appointed to the senior national team for the first time . He also made his national team debut that month when he came on as a substitute in a friendly against Finland at half-time. On March 27, 2018, Grillitsch scored his first international goal in a 4-0 win in the friendly against Luxembourg .
