Sargis Adamyan ( Armenian Սարգիս Ադամյան , born May 23, 1993 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian football player . The offensive player, who is mainly used in the forward position as well as in the left midfield , played at the beginning of his career for Hansa Rostock in the German 3rd division and became a national player in his home country . He is under contract with Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .
Career
Childhood in Armenia
Sargis Adamyan was born in 1993 in Yerevan, Armenia, the son of a shoe manufacturer . Five years later, in 1998, the father gave up the shoe factory and emigrated with his family to Germany , where they initially settled in Ueckermünde .
Youth in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
After six years in Uckermünde, where Sargis was also active in table tennis and had become Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's youth championship , the Adamyan family moved to Neubrandenburg in 2004 , where Sargis joined a football club for the first time : he joined 1.FC Neubrandenburg 04 on, where he first played in the D-youth and subsequently also went through the C-youth. When Adamyan joined the B-Youth in 2008, he finally played for Neubrandenburg in the B-Junior Regional League , in which his achievements aroused the interest of Hansa Rostock's scouts . As a result, Adamyan moved to FC Hansa in the summer of 2009.
In Rostock , Adamyan played for the first time in the B-Junioren-Bundesliga , in the 2009/10 season of which he scored ten goals within 22 appearances under coach Roland Kroos and thus contributed to fourth place in the final table of the North / Northeast relay. Then Adamyan moved up to the Rostock A-youth, which had become German youth champion a few weeks earlier . In the 2010/11 season of the A-Junioren-Bundesliga , the team, which in turn was looked after by Roland Kroos, was no longer able to build on this success and only finished fifth in its season. For Adamyan it was still the most successful season of his career so far, as he had been used in all 26 games of the season and was the best striker of his team with 16 goals scored. In addition, the team reached the final of the 2010/11 Junior Cup this season , which was only lost on penalties against the A-Juniors of SC Freiburg .
The season 2011/12 of the A-Junioren-Bundesliga represented Adamyan's last season in the youth field, whereby he was financially supported by a sponsorship of the Rostock engineering office "hkc GmbH". With eleven goals in 25 appearances, Adamyan contributed once again to the fact that Rostock was able to place fifth in the final table and thus became the second best goalscorer of his team after Hannes Uecker. Nevertheless, both he and Uecker were not taken over to the professional team of FC Hansa for the following season, but initially assigned to the reserve team.
Beginnings at Hansa Rostock
For Rostock's second substitute, Adamyan was to play under coach Axel Rietentiet in the fifth-rate Oberliga Nordost , in which the team had previously won the championship, but had to forego promotion to the Regionalliga Nordost due to the descent of the professional team to the 3rd division . In the now beginning 2012/13 season , however, the team no longer played for promotion, but rather against an initially threatened relegation to the sixth division. In his 14 missions before the winter break, in which he was able to score a total of three goals, Adamyan managed to recommend himself for the Rostock third division team: Coach Marc Fascher let Adamyan do the second half preparation with the team and finally appointed him the professional squad. On January 26, 2012, Adamyan came on the second half of the season opener against Preußen Münster by substitution for his first appearance in the 3rd division, which was followed by seven more appearances during the 2012/13 season . Finally, after a personnel change at the Rostockers, he moved back to the second team, for which he completed seven games in the first half of the 2013/14 top division in which he scored a goal.
Change to Neustrelitz
In the winter of 2014, Adamyan moved to the Mecklenburg regional league team TSG Neustrelitz , who were leaders of the Northeast relay at the time. With TSG he was champion at the end of the season, but failed in the relegation games to the 3rd division.
Change to Steinbach
In January 2016 he moved to TSV Steinbach from the Regionalliga Südwest . There the Armenian scored 16 times in 33 games in the 2016/17 season.
Breakthrough in Regensburg
For the 2017/18 season Adamyan moved to second division promoted SSV Jahn Regensburg on a free transfer . There he made his debut on July 29, 2017 (1st matchday) in the 2-1 defeat against Arminia Bielefeld and subsequently played as a regular in the second Bundesliga. On November 4, 2017 (13th matchday) he scored his first two goals for Regensburg in the second division in a 3-2 win against SpVgg Greuther Fürth . The winger scored a total of 20 times in 66 league games.
First stop in the Bundesliga
For the 2019/20 season, the offensive player switched to Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , where he received a contract until 2022. On October 5, 2019, he scored his first two Bundesliga goals in a 2-1 away win at Bayern Munich .
National team
Already in March 2013 Adamyan was nominated for a friendly game of the Armenian U-21 selection , but received no approval from Hansa Rostock to participate. Three months later, Adamyan was nominated again and played on June 6, 2013 in qualifying for the 2015 European Championship for the first time for Armenia's U-21s, who lost 2-1 to Iceland . Nevertheless, Adamyan joined the senior national team the following day , which played two qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup on June 7 and 11, 2013 . Adamyan was not used in these games. Three months later he made his debut in the 1-0 defeat at home to Denmark .
