Nicolai Hansen (born June 2, 1982 in Odense ) is a former Danish handball player .

Career

Nicolai Hansen started playing handball at Korup IF at the age of 12. Via the stopover at Bolbro G&IF, the cyclist came to DHG, with whom he took third place twice at the Danish championships in the youth division. He then worked for GOG, Otterup and Bjerringbro FH.

In 2005 Hansen moved to Viborg HK . With Viborg he was runner-up in 2007. In the same year he moved to Germany to the second division HC Empor Rostock , which he left after only one year for Bern. In 2009 he returned to Viborg. After his partner Anja Althaus , who played in the women's team in Viborg, moved to Germany in the summer of 2012, Hansen signed on with the German second division ThSV Eisenach . He played in the Bundesliga with Eisenach in the 2015/16 season . Hansen ended his career after the 2016/17 season. In December 2017 it was reactivated by the ThSV again until the end of the 2017/18 season.

Nicolai Hansen played nine international matches for the Danish national youth team, in which he scored seven goals. He then played 34 games for the Danish national junior team, in which he scored 67 goals. With the junior selection he was runner-up in 2003.

Hansen has been a selection coach for the Thuringian Handball Association since 2019 . For the 2020/21 season he will take over as assistant coach at Northeimer HC .
