Paul Hillemacher

Paul Joseph Guillaume Hillemacher (born November 25, 1852 in Paris , † August 13, 1933 in Versailles ) was a French composer and pianist .

Hillemacher studied at the Paris Conservatory with François Bazin . In 1876 he won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome with the cantata Judith . He composed several operas, theatrical music, symphonic works and songs.

The majority of his stage works were created in collaboration with his brother Lucien Joseph Edouard Hillemacher (born June 10, 1860 in Paris, † June 2, 1909 there) and was published under the name of PL Hillemacher . Lucien Hillemacher won the Prix de Rome in 1880 with the lyric scene Fingal by Charles Dancours .
