François Bazin
François Emmanuel Joseph Bazin (born September 4, 1816 in Marseille , † July 2, 1878 in Paris ) was a French composer.
Life
François Bazin studied at the Paris Conservatory with Henri Montan Berton and Jacques Fromental Halévy, among others . 1840 received the first Prix de Rome for his cantata Loyse de Montfort , which was performed several times at the Paris Opera. After his return from Italy he taught at the conservatory as a singing teacher, since 1849 as a harmony teacher and since 1871 as a composition teacher. One of his students was Charles Lecocq .
In addition to nine comic operas , he composed an oratorio , a mass , choirs and songs in the romantic style.
