Davide Appollonio

Davide Appollonio (born June 2, 1989 in Isernia ) is an Italian road cyclist .

In 2007 Davide Appollonio won one stage each in the junior class at the Giro di Toscana and at Tre Ciclistica Bresciana. In the 2009 season he drove for the Italian team Hopplà Seano Bellissima. There he won the one-day races Firenze-Empoli, Giro Colline Capannoresi, Gran Premio Pretola and Coppa Lanciotto Ballerini. At the end of the year he drove for the Swiss Cervélo TestTeam as a stagiaire , where he finished fifth in the Tour of Britain . In 2010 he became a professional at Cervélo, where he won a stage in the Tour du Limousin .

In June 2015, Appollonio tested positive for EPO and was suspended by the World Cycling Federation UCI . The sample in question came from June 14th, a few days before the start of the Tour of Slovenia , where Appollonio won the points evaluation. Last year, the Androni Giocattoli team announced fines of 100,000 euros for its drivers in the event of positive doping tests. In April 2014, he was banned for four years until June 29, 2019.
