Bertha Augusti

Bertha Augusti ( née Schöler ; born June 2, 1827 in Cologne , † December 12, 1886 in Koblenz ) was a German writer .

Life

Bertha Augusti was born in 1827 as the daughter of the Justice Council Dr. Schöler was born in Cologne. In 1849 she married the district court assessor Karl Wilhelm Ernst Augusti and moved with him to Koblenz. The marriage has two children. Her husband, who worked as a judge at the royal district court in Koblenz, died in 1858.

Although she became interested in poetry at an early age, she did not begin to write and publish novels and short stories for girls until the years after her husband's death . Through her sister Caroline “Lina” Schöler she came into contact with Karl Marx and his wife Jenny , who visited the writer in 1877. Bertha Augusti died of cardiac paralysis in Koblenz in 1886.
