Guido Agosti

Guido Agosti (born August 11, 1901 in Forlì ; † June 2, 1989 in Milan ) was an Italian pianist .

Life

He studied piano at the Liceo musicale in Bologna from 1911 to 1914 , his teachers were Bruno Mugellini , Ferruccio Busoni and Filippo Ivaldi . He also learned to compose privately with Giacomo Benvenuti . After Agosti had completed his philology studies in Bologna, he gave very successful concerts at home and abroad. After his great career as a soloist , he taught at the conservatories in Venice , Rome and Milan from 1933 to 1949 .

After the end of the Second World War , Agosti became the leader of a master class for piano at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. From 1949 he taught piano masterclasses at the Accademia musicale Chigiana in Siena .

In 1967 he began to give concerts again, but not as a soloist . He founded a trio with Severino Gazzelloni (flutist) and Enrico Mainardi (cellist). He also became a piano partner of the Quartetto di Roma and a juror at international piano competitions.

His students included Maria Tipo , Yonty Solomon , Leslie Howard , Martin Jones , Donna Amato , Vladimir Krpan , Hamish Milne , Dag Achatz , Sergio Calligaris , Raymond Lewenthal , Kun-Woo Paik , Daniel Pollack , William Corbett Jones , Angela Brownridge , Ian Munro , Geneviève Calame , Rita Wolfensberger , Jürgen Schröder and Eric van Griensven .
