Officer Cao Song was murdered at the instigation of Governor Tao Qian . The warlord Cao Cao takes this as an opportunity for a campaign of conquest against Tao Qian. Generals Yu Jin and Cao Ren defeat Tao Qian's officer Cao Bao .

Second year of the four emperors in the Roman Empire :
On January 1st, Pertinax becomes the successor of Commodus, who was murdered the day before . He was murdered by the Praetorians on March 28th . The senator Didius Julianus asserts himself through gifts of money ( donativa ) to the Praetorians as his successor against the city prefect Titus Flavius Sulpicianus . Septimius Severus , the governor of Upper Pannonia , is also proclaimed Roman emperor by his troops on April 9 in Carnuntum .
