  • Emperor Xian of Han makes his wife Fu Shou empress. An argument breaks out between officers Li Jue and Guo Si , who have the emperor under their control. After a losing battle, they make peace again and allow the emperor to return to the burned capital Luoyang . The march there becomes a grueling ordeal for the emperor and his entourage, and Luoyang turns out to be unsuitable accommodation.
  • On behalf of the warlord Yuan Shu, General Sun Ce defeats his rival Liu Yao and lays the foundations for his own empire. Even the governors Ze Rong , Yan Baihu and Wang Lang have nothing to oppose him.
  • The warlord Yuan Shu proclaims himself emperor. Sun Ce wrote to him about his displeasure with this decision and broke up with Yuan Shu.
  • Official Kong Rong is appointed governor of Qing Province (by General Taishi Ci ) after his victory over the Yellow Turbans .
  • The Xiongnu tribes cross the Great Wall and settle in what is now Shanxi Province .
