- The Greek rhetoric and writer Aelius Aristides wrote Παναθηναικός ( Panathenaikos ; speech in praise of Athens ), one of his epideictic speeches . In the same year Εἰς Ῥώμην ( Eis Rómen ; Romrede ) was created, in which, after describing the greatness of Rome and the Roman Empire, he compared the rule of Rome with older empires and the Greek city-states of the classical period.
