Roman Empire
- In Naissus , province of Moesia ( Moesia ), Pacatianus is proclaimed anti -emperor. The Roman Emperor Philip the Arab sends the high-ranking Senator Decius to stabilize the situation in the region. Decius had worked in the past as governor in Pannonia inferior (Lower Pannonia) and comes from the region himself.
- Decius arrives at Singidunum in Pannonia (Pannonia). His goal is presumably to claim command of the local divisions Legio IIII Flavia Felix and Legio XI Claudia . Shortly afterwards, Pacatianus is killed by his own soldiers. The Pannonian Decius was then proclaimed the opposing emperor himself.
- Autumn: The armies of Emperor Philip Arabs and Decius meet near Verona . The imperial troops are defeated in a bloody battle. Philip Arabs is killed. His twelve-year-old son Philip Caesar , who has been co-regent for two years, is celebrated as sole ruler in Rome. Shortly afterwards he is killed by the Praetorians . The 59-year-old Decius becomes Emperor of the Roman Empire.
- The brother of Philip Arabs, Priscus , names himself anti-emperor in Antioch in the Roman province of Syria (Syria).
- The body of the opposing emperor Iotapianus , who was murdered by his own troops, is brought to Decius in Rome .

- Time of the Three Kingdoms : The former co-regent Sima Yi , who withdrew from politics in 247 , deposed the regent Cao Shuang with the help of numerous court officials and took over power in Wei China himself . Cao Shuang is captured, accused of conspiracy and executed while visiting the tomb of Emperor Cao Rui .
