Roman Empire
- The Roman Emperor Valerian re- establishes the Legio III Augusta , which had been dissolved around ten years earlier, with soldiers from Raetia and Noricum . They are supposed to defend the Roman Empire against the Berbers . Their motto will be Iterum Pia Iterum Vindex ("faithful again, the avenger again").
- Roman-Persian Wars : The Sassanid Empire under Shah Shapur I attacks the eastern border of the Roman Empire. His army moves towards the Mediterranean in the province of Syria . The local Roman troops are defeated in the Battle of Barbalissos. The city of Zeugma is destroyed, the city of Nisibis is besieged.
- Shapur I conquered the Kingdom of Armenia .
Empire of China
- Time of the Three Kingdoms : Zhang is made empress in Luoyang by Wei Emperor Cao Fang .
- While Wu Emperor Sun Quan is near death, his wife, Empress Pan , is murdered under unexplained circumstances. Soon after, Sun Quan dies at the age of 70. He is followed by his 9-year-old son Sun Liang . Zhuge Ke becomes its regent.
- Wei regent Sima Shi begins a campaign against the Wu dynasty, which has been weakened after the death of its emperor. Regent Zhuge Ke is able to stop the invasion and fight back Sima Shi. Sima Shi takes responsibility for the defeat and promotes those generals who advised him not to attack.

- The church writer Cyprian of Carthage describes for the first time the epidemic that has raged in the Roman Empire for two years and later becomes known as the Cyprian plague . 5000 people fall victim to it every day at weddings.
