- Imperial crisis of the 3rd century : In several Roman provinces usurpers such as Pacatianus and Iotapianus lay claim to the Roman throne, but are soon murdered by their own troops.
- Goths and Karpen fall into Moesia one. Since the emperor's father-in-law, Severianus , was unable to cope with the defense, Senator Gaius Messius Quintus Traianus Decius was given supreme command over the affected provinces and was able to repel the attack.
