- The Roman Emperor Decius appoints his sons Herennius Etruscus and Hostilian to be Caesares (lower emperors) in Rome .
- In Rome, Decius, as the first emperor after twenty years, began building activity again. The Amphitheatrum Flavium ( Coliseum ), still damaged by the fire of 217 , is being repaired.
- An alliance of "Scythian tribes" (ie Goths and Carps ) under the Gothic king Kniva invades the Roman Empire and plunders Napoca .
- While Decius not in Rome , is the Senator appoints Licinianus to Gegenkaiser . He will be executed within a few days.
