Roman Empire
- April 30th : The seriously ill Roman Emperor Galerius writes an edict of tolerance that ends the persecution of Christians that has been going on since 303 and threatens to weaken the empire. For the first time, Christianity becomes a legal religion.
- May 5th : Emperor Galerius dies of cancer. His successor is the previous Caesar Maximinus Daia . In contrast to the system of the Roman tetrarchy , however, the latter does not appoint a new Caesar .
Empire of China
- June: Sixteen empires : The Han Zhao raid Luoyang , the capital of Jin China, and capture Emperor Jin Huaidi .
- August: The Han Zhao conquer the second capital of Jin China, Chang'an . However, the Jin Army manages to retake the city.

- By decree of the emperors Constantine and Licinius , the practice of military diplomas in the Roman army is ended.
