Events
- April: When the former Emperor Maximian returns to Rome, he falls out with his son, the usurper Maxentius , and tries to overthrow him. However, the soldiers present stand on Maxentius' side, so that Maximian has to leave Italy.
- Autumn: At the Imperial Conference of Carnuntum , the former Emperors Diocletian and Maximian and the incumbent Emperor Galerius discuss the future of the tetrarchy in the Roman Empire. It is decided to transfer the vacant office of emperor to the officer Valerius Licinianus Licinius .
- Domitius Alexander is proclaimed anti- Roman emperor by his troops in Carthage .
