Roman Empire
- April 8th : The Roman emperor Caracalla is murdered by his bodyguard Iulius Martialis on a campaign against the Parthians . Macrinus , the Prefect of the Praetorians , may have instigated him to act .
- April 11th : In Mesopotamia , three days after the murder of the Roman emperor Caracalla, the soldiers elect the usurper Macrinus as his successor. He is currently on a campaign against the Parthians and does not come to Rome during his entire term of office until 218 .

- The Three Kingdoms Period : The Chinese General Lu Su dies. Warlord Sun Quan appoints General Lü Meng as his successor in Jing Province .
