Events

  • Imperial crisis of the 3rd century : Carus is appointed counter-emperor in the north of the Roman Empire . Emperor Probus sends troops against Carus, but they join him.
  • Emperor Probus was in his hometown of Sirmium when it became known that the troops he sent against Carus had joined him. Thereupon he is murdered in a vineyard by his troops - dissatisfied that they have to fulfill more and more civilian tasks. Carus can then assert himself as emperor.
