Iotapianus
Jotapianus (full name Marcus F . Ru . Jotapianus ; † 249) was a Roman in the year 248/249 Gegenkaiser .
Life
Iotapianus was proclaimed anti-emperor by Syrian troops during the reign of Emperor Philip Arab around 248 in the eastern provinces of the Roman Empire .
Iotapianus first appeared in a rebellion against the harsh tax policy of Priscus , who was a brother of the emperor and administrator of the eastern provinces. The rebellion soon collapsed. The exact date is not known; however, it was before the death of the emperor Philip, at the beginning of the year 249. After the suppression of the rebellion, Iotapianus was killed by his own soldiers.
