The water monkey ( Renshen , Chinese  壬申 , Pinyin rénshēn ) is the 9th year of the Chinese calendar (see table 天 支 60-year cycle). It is a term from the field of Chinese astrology and describes those lunar years that are linked by a connection between the ninth celestial stem ( , rén , element water and Yáng ) and the ninth earth branch ( , shēn ), symbolized by the monkey ( , hóu ), are characterized.
