The metal pig ( Xinhai ( Chinese  辛亥 , Pinyin xīnhài )) is the 48th year of the Chinese calendar (see table 天 支 60-year cycle). It is a term from the field of Chinese astrology and denotes the lunar years that are connected to the eighth celestial stem ( , xīn , element metal and Yīn ) with the twelfth earth branch ( , hài ), symbolized by the pig ( , zhū ), are characterized.
