The wood monkey ( Jiashe , Chinese  甲申 , Pinyin jiǎshēn ) is the 21st year of the Chinese calendar (see table 天 支 60-year cycle). It is a term from the field of Chinese astrology and describes those lunar years that are linked by a connection between the first heavenly stem ( , jiǎ , element wood and Yáng ) with the ninth earth branch ( , shēn ), symbolized by the monkey ( , hóu ), are characterized.
