The fire buffalo ( dingchou , Chinese  丁丑 , pinyin dīngchǒu ) is the 14th year of the Chinese calendar (see table 天 支 60-year cycle). It is a term from the field of Chinese astrology and denotes those lunar years that are linked by a connection between the fourth celestial stem ( , dīng , element fire and Yīn ) and the second earth branch ( , chǒu ), symbolized by the buffalo ( , niú ), are characterized.
