The metal dog ( Gengxu ( Chinese  庚戌 , Pinyin gēngxū )) is the 47th year of the Chinese calendar (see table 天 支 60-year cycle). It is a term from the field of Chinese astrology and describes those lunar years that are linked by a connection between the seventh heavenly stem ( , gēng , element metal and Yáng ) and the eleventh earth branch ( , ), symbolized by the dog ( , gǒu ), are characterized.
