- Gaius Antistius Vetus becomes consul all year round .
- The British King Caratacus loses the decisive battle against the Romans at Caer Caradoc.
- Cologne receives city rights and becomes the Roman colony Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium .
- Pliny the Elder (Roman natural scientist) travels the North Sea coast and writes a report about it, in which he mentions, among other things, the island of Burchana . The report is only preserved in fragments.
