In the Roman province of Britain , under the leadership of Queen Boudicca, the Boudicca rebellion of the two Celtic tribes of the Iceni and Trinovanten against the Roman occupation begins . The late Iceni prince Prasutagus inherited his kingdom in equal parts to his two daughters and the Roman emperor Nero , in order to ensure the continuation of his empire and above all to protect his family from attacks by the Romans. But the Romans, under the leadership of the procurator Catus Decianus, move in and treat the realm of the previous client king as part of the Roman province. As Tacitus reports, Roman soldiers destroy Prasutagus' lands and the procurator's slaves his house, mistreat his widow Boudicca and rape and kidnap both of her daughters. Boudicca then pulls together an army towards the end of the year. In addition to the Iceni, they are joined by the neighboring Trinovants and small parts of other, but unknown tribes, who also see themselves suppressed by the Roman treatment. They decide to go out together and look for new settlement areas where they can live independently of the Romans. The uprising lasted until the year 61 . The unfortified Camulodunum is the first city to be burned down.

Londinium is conquered and burned down by the Iceni during the Boudicca uprising. The Roman governor Gaius Suetonius Paulinus cannot hold the city.
