Roman Empire
- 60 / 61 : The Romans beat in Britain a revolt of the Iceni and Trinovantes during the Battle of the Watling Street down. The British general Boudicca dies.
- from 66 : Jewish uprising against Roman rule in Judea . The Zealots take Jerusalem and the Sicarians occupy the fortress of Masada .
- 68 : The Julian-Claudian dynasty ends with Nero's suicide . A civil war over the succession breaks out, known as the Four Emperor's Year .
- 69 : The Germanic Batavian tribe under Julius Civilis revolt against the Romans ( Batavian Rebellion ).
- December 21, 69: Vespasian enters Rome as the victor of the civil war and is recognized by the Senate as the new emperor. He founded the Flavian dynasty .

- 63 : The Roman emperor Nero lets weight and fineness of the circulating coins cut to the money supply to increase. This triggers the first precisely documented inflation in world history. Pliny the Elder reports on this in detail.
Disasters
- July 19, 64 : A major fire breaks out in Rome that rages for several days and completely burns three parts of the city into ashes. Emperor Nero blames the Christians for the fire in Rome and persecutes them.
