Parthian Empire
After the death of Gotarzes II Vonones II succeeds him as King of the Parthians on the throne. Tacitus describes his reign, which lasted only a few months, in his work Annales as "short and inglorious". In the same year he dies and his son Vologaeses I comes to the throne. At the beginning of his reign he gives the throne of Medien to his brother Pakoros and the throne of Armenia to another brother Tiridates . The latter provides an excuse for the Romans to intervene as they lay claim to Armenia. The Roman promagistrate of Cappadocia , Julius Paelignus, invades Armenia and devastates the country. In the same year Armenia is occupied by the Iberian usurper Rhadamistos , who killed his uncle Mithridates of Armenia and usurped power.
