癸丑

The water buffalo ( Guichou , Chinese  癸丑 , Pinyin guǐchǒu ) is the 50th year of the Chinese calendar (see table 天 支 60-year cycle). It is a term from the field of Chinese astrology and describes those lunar years that are linked by a connection between the tenth heavenly stem ( , guǐ , element water and Yīn ) and the second earth branch ( , chǒu ), symbolized by the buffalo ( , niú ), are characterized.
