- King Alexander II of Macedonia is murdered during a festival at the behest of his brother-in-law Ptolemaios of Aloros . His younger brother Perdiccas succeeds him; but since he is still a minor, Ptolemy is appointed his regent.
- The Thessalians ask Thebes for support against the tyrant Alexander von Pherai . Thebes sends his general Pelopidas , who is captured by Alexander.
- Representatives of the Greek city-states meet in Delphi for a peace conference. However, since Sparta refuses to recognize the independence of Messenia , no agreement can be found.
