- After the Leges Liciniae Sextiae was accepted in the previous year, the long-standing tribune Lucius Sextius Lateranus became the first plebeian consul of the Roman Republic . He fulfills his office together with Lucius Aemilius Mamercinus .
- Gaius Sulpicius Peticus and Aulus Postumius Regillensis Albinus became Roman censors .

- The Attic Sea Confederation recaptured the Aegean island of Samos from the Persians and began the siege of the capital, which would drag on into the following year.
- A city with the same name is founded on the Dodecanese island of Kos .
