The water hare ( Guimao , Chinese  癸卯 , Pinyin guǐmǎo ) is the 40th year of the Chinese calendar (see table 天 支 60-year cycle). It is a term from the field of Chinese astrology and describes those lunar years that are linked by a connection between the tenth heavenly stem ( , guǐ , element wood and yin ) and the fourth earth branch ( , mǎo ), symbolized by the hare ( , ), are characterized.
