- June 30th : Victory of the Byzantines over the Bulgarians in the Battle of Anchialus
- Duke Tassilo III. von Baiern allegedly denied the Frankish King Pippin the Younger the army succession on his march against Aquitaine , thereby breaking his vassal oath. The report about it, which was only written around 790 , is questioned in modern research and is very likely a subsequent construction.
- The Abbasid General Mugharif takes action against the Emir of Cordoba , the Umayyad Abd ar-Rahman I , but is defeated by him.
